It’s hard to reflect on the huge differences between the toys of my kids and the toys I used to play with when I was their age without immediately sounding 100 years old. Never, when playing with the Real Ghostbusters Proton Pack or the Teenage Mutant Hero* Turtles Battle Bus did I think they would become museum relics but here we are.
(*In the UK we weren’t allowed ‘ninja’ turtles as it was deemed too violent. Boooo!)
If one sort of toy defines this generation (ignoring fidget spinners) then it is surely the colourful ranges of highly-collectible miniature toys. The craze started in 2014 with Shopkins and its slimy cousin Grossery Gang and since then kids, including mine, have begun to amass huge collections of these tiny creatures. Any cupboard in our house usually has some random bag or box with at least a few in them, in fact as I glance about now I can see at least three. Kids love them, whether it’s to collect like trading cards, act out adventures or both
Flush Force is the latest collection from Spin Master and it combines this appealing concept with all the ick and eww factor that appeals to the kids that like their characters a bit less sugar-sweet. These ‘flushies’ come freshly packaged via ‘flush-to-reveal technology’! Simply pour water into the tiny toilet tank and watch the scummy surface melt away to reveal two brand new flushies!
We tried out the whole range of Flush Force to see what gruesome critters we could flush out! Check out our video below.
I think Flush Force are a great idea although far messier than their non-toilet counterparts. I think there’ a real value in having to ‘flush’ the creatures out rather than just tear into a box or blind-bag. The Collect-A-Bowl is also a fantastic idea as it gives the kids somewhere to actually store all their creatures which will hopefully help protect them from being sucked up the hoover or eaten by the dog!
I think the grosser end of the mini-collectible toy range tends to be interpreted as more of a boys thing, but as you can see from the video Claudia LOVES Flush Force and really enjoys digging them out of their goopy toilets.
Check out the full range of flushies and check out their native home of Flushville over at www.theflushforce.com. The Flush Force also have an app that can be downloaded from the App Store on iOS devices and on the Play Store on Android devices.
